New York based designer Victor Glemaund has been in the fashion industry since his teens. Always known for making a statement, the thirty-one year old designer always manages to draw attention wherever he goes. For instance, in is interview with Interview magazine, Glemaud recalls wearing stonewashed jeans and a red turtle neck. Two girls then proceed to giggle. “Perhaps it’s because I’m wearing my ‘mom’ jeans”. he says. A fashion veteran for nearly a decade now, things haven’t been exactly a catwalk for designer. Like many, he had to start somewhere.
Luckily for Victor he was an intern for Vogue Fashion editor Virgina Smith, and her husband Patrick Robinson, head of popular apparel brand The Gap.
“I would work with Patrick Robinson during the day, go to school at night, and go out till the wee hours. I would never sleep”
However, Victor Glemaunds big break didn’t come through until he launched his company in the summer of 2006. Victor would cut up his father’s old sweaters and transform them into cardigans, prouducing more than seven different looks which he calls “7 Days of Victor”.
For the spring 2009 collection, the majority of his line fit perfectly for the pages of Men’s Vogue. Victor Glemaunds Spring Collection consists of shredded jeans, cardigans, and multilayer t-shirts. A reflection of Glemaund’s everyday style.
