Classic Style

When visualizing celebrities with classic style, I think of Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Katharine Hepburn and Jackie Onassis. These legendary fashion icons pulled off every look with a sense of elegance and class. When it comes to modern celebrities, I think several women pull off this sophisticated and timeless look. Here are my top five:

Kate Winslet

Kate Winslet always seems to have an aura of classic elegance. She is very regal with her head held high and her sharp features. Kate’s red carpet style usually has her in a long single-color dress, with very little jewelry (outside of dripping diamond earrings), and her hair in an updo. All she needs are some black elbow-length gloves!

Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon looks glamorous with her hair in loose waves, reminiscent of Katharine Hepburn and Grace Kelly. Reese tends to stick to monochromatic dresses, a trend that Jackie Onassis also favored. The bulky cut and oversize collar are also a fave of Jackie O.

Camilla Belle

Camilla Belle just naturally exudes classic appeal. She plays up her defined eyebrows and exotic eyes, often adding just a slash of red lipstick. Camilla knows what she looks good in and often leans toward ladylike chic and sophisticated. If she turned her white dress black and added a cigarette holder, Camilla easily could pull off Holly Golightly!

Emma Watson

Emma Watson carries herself with an air of grace and maturity far beyond her ears. The Harry Potter starlet is often seen in classic inspired clothing, even when she’s not on the red carpet. The big round sunglasses are a throw back to Jackie Onassis and the plaid trench coat is an unexpected accessory!

Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman has been compared to Audrey Hepburn in a variety of publications and was even named the Best Dressed Lady in 2007 by InStyle! Natalie is equally comfortable with her hair in loose waves or an updo, and her makeup is always classic and flawless. In this second picture, her high necked, belted dress reminds me of a vintage 1950s pattern, if only it were a little longer!

Others that didn’t make my top five, but definitely would make my top ten list are Gwyneth Paltrow, Hilary Swank, Anne Hathaway, Cate Blanchett, and Halle Berry.

Trends come and they go, but the classic look is here to stay!
